JAPAN, December 20, 2006 - I-O DATA Device, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “I-O DATA”) is proud to announce the arrival of the LANDISK Tera, premium model HDL-GTR series, a gigabit LAN (1000 BASE-T) connection terabyte hard disk supporting the RAID 5 format. This top-of-the-line model is intended mainly for corporate applications and is packed with functionality. The lineup features two models, at 1TB and 2TB*1 capacity respectively, both planned to ship at the end of January 2007. The current estimated shipping target for this product is around 1,000 units per month.

This new product uses 4 cartridge disks for large-capacity storage space, boasting a flexible RAID composition, and is based on the popular LAN-connection LANDISK Tera HDL-GT series hard disk. The new model has various innovative functions specialized for business application. It utilizes a high-speed gigabit LAN network, and hot-swap style cartridge hard disks, Relational HD*2 for simple front-based exchange. Inheriting the superior performance and maintainability of its forebear, the HDL-GT series, it also features the enhanced data security essential for modern office use.

Performance enhancements over conventional models:

 

1. Utilizes AES 256-bit encryption file system
Handled RAID composition as a high-speed encrypted volume. The encryption key is saved in dedicated formatted USB memory, reducing the risk of information leaks in case of theft or similar.


2. Active Directory Native logon function
When joining a Windows network (in native mode), it is possible to set the access authority needed to acquire user and group information managed by Active Directory.


3. Samba access log function
User access such as file reference, creation, editing, and so on is recorded in real time. The unit can also be set to notify managers of this via email.


4. Supports uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices*3


5. Supports SmartHDD Server, a centralized monitoring tool for network PCs of Intercom, Inc. For further details, please check the Intercom Inc. website
